Monocoque body

In the event of a collision, the impact is distributed throughout the vehicle body and the affected portion of the body collapses progressively along the in-built crumple zones. This enables the car to absorb the shock, saving passengers from injury. The monocoque body also makes the car extremely light, which contributes towards higher-fuel efficiency and a quicker pick-up.

Baleno's side impact beams are made of heavy-duty steel tubing rather than steel sheeting. This combined with thicker door construction and reinforced cross members provide extra protection for the cabin and its occupants in the event of side collision.

Braking Technology

The front wheels have 13" ventilated disc brakes and the rear wheels have 8" self-adjusting drum brakes. The front and rear brakes force distribution is well balanced by a dual proportioning valve for stable braking even under high-speed panic conditions.

Individual brakes employ a large 9-inch vacuum booster in the master cylinder to reduce pressure on the brake pedal. This increases the braking performance tremendously.

Collapsible Steering Wheel

The steering column is collapsible in nature and reduces the likelihood of injury to the driver in the event of a frontal collision.

Anti Submarining Effect

The front seats have been designed to provide anti submarining effect. This combined with a reinforced structure of the lower part of the seat and the angle on the base of the seat, ensures that the occupant does not slide forward in the event of an impact.

Rear Window Demister

The rear window comes fitted with a demister to improve visibility for the driver especially during heavy showers & foggy conditions. There is also a high mounted rear stop lamp to provide advance warning to vehicles following from behind.
