Jansher Khan

Jansher Khan, a true squash legend, came to center-stage just when Jahangir Khan was fading away. Jansher, who has more than 75 international titles to his credit, has won a record eight World Opens and six British Opens. At 17 years he was as youngest world Champion. Won World open title in 1987, 89, 90, 92, 93, 94, 95 96 and 97. He won British open successive from 92 to 97.

 

He has been given Player of the Century Award from the England-based Professional Squash Association (PSA). Jansher is the only player who has been the World No. 1 for a decade. This is the reason why has been given the first-ever award of its nature as the century comes to an end. The award has been given by the PSA for retaining the No. 1 position in the world for 96 consecutive months from 1988. 
The PSA paid tribute to young player by saying, ‘It was exactly ten years ago, on 1st January 1988, that the 28-year-old from Peshawar in Pakistan first topped the PSA world rankings – a position he has held for 96 months in total. Throughout the decade, he has only slipped to second slot – mostly behind the sport’s other great Pakistani legend, Jahangir Khan...’ "

Jansher lost the championship to Peter Nicol in April 1998 at the British Open. It ended Pakistan’s 16 year sovereignty over this game
