The
43rd Nigar Film Award distribution
ceremony was held in Pakistan's
cultural capital Lahore last week,
after remaining in doubt for long. And
not to our surprise, the reigning
queen Reema was crowned as the best
actress of the year, while Azra Jehan
was declared the best singer. |

The
star-studded colorful film award
ceremony was held at Mehfil
Auditorium, where the Punjab Minister
for Law and Justice Khalid Ranjha and
was compared by Omar Sharif.
The other recipients of Nigar Awards
for different categories included:
Sana and Laila for best supporting
actresses, Javed Sheikh for best
supporting actor, Zulfiqar Ali for
best music director, Ahmad Rahi for
best lyricist, Azra Jehan for best
singer, Masood Butt for best
direction, Babar Kashmiri for best
story writer, Tanveer Fatima for best
art director, Waqar Bukhari for best
cameraman, Syed Noor for best
screenplay writer, Pervez Kalim for
best script writer, Younus Malik for
best film producer, Ashraf Shehzada
for best choriography.
On this occasion, special awards were
given to Meera, Shehzad Roy, fight
instructor Qaiser Mastana.
The
Nigar Millennium Award was given to
Mohammad Ali, Zeba, Nadeem, Bahar
Begum, Qateel Shafai, Badar Munir and
Nagina Cinema, Faisalabad. |

She
may not be doing that well in films
but on the personal front, Meera seems
to be literally flying high.
Our mole in movieland tells us that
the dusky charmer from Sheikhupura has
now developed a passion for flying. In
fact she seems to be taking lessons
for flying a helicopter.
And our man swears that there is much
more to this newfound interest than
the explanation that Meera has been
giving - of the flying lessons coming
in handy for films. Yes folks, the
filmiworld beauty is trying her skills
on the flying machine, and that too
not out of her purse.
Seems the rich man who is 'lattoo' on
our gal and has been literally blowing
his money on her has promised Meera
baby that if she learns to fly a
helicopter, he'd - get ready for it -
gift one to her. Wonder how Meera's
arch rivals will top this one. Ahem
